Wildlife at Lynford Stag

Thetford Forest Park
East Anglia
England
Lynford is the nearest town or village.
OS Grid Reference: TL 815 916
FLY AGARICGlimpsed through the roadside trees, a passing traveller could be forgiven for marvelling at the audacity of the bold deer parading at this popular picnic site. The distinctive creature, however, is no more than a metal imitation "target stag", found by the Forestry Commission workers when the area was being planted. It belonged to the former owner of Lynford Hall, Sir Richard Sutton, Master of the Hunt and bears the scars of its former role.
A recent addition is a giant wood play sculpture of a deer!

Birds: The mixed conifer and broadleaf woods are ideal for various tits, Goldcrest and Firecrest.

How to get there:
Take the A134 Thetford to Mundford road.
Approximately half a mile after the Lynford cross roads turn right, signposted Lynford Stag picnic site.
