Our pledge to you

People volunteer for many different reasons. It may be to enhance a CV, develop new skills or use existing skills.  It may also be to contribute to the community and meet new people or as a way of getting outside and exercising.

No matter what your reason for volunteering we attempt to meet an individual's needs to ensure that volunteering for the Forestry Commission is a positive and enjoyable experience.

No matter where in England you volunteer we pledge that:

  • we will treat all volunteers with respect and value them as individuals.
  • we recognise that volunteers are not unpaid staff but individuals making a valuable contribution to our work and we will ensure volunteers feel valued.
  • we will involve volunteers in work which matches volunteers skills, knowledge and experience but also aids personal development.
  • we will provide a working environment where risks have been assessed and appropriate measures put in place for safe working conditions.
  • we will train and educate volunteers to ensure tasks are carried out in a safe and competent manner as well as to aid personal development.
