Community involvement
Involving local communities in the management of forests has become increasingly common over the past decade. The Forestry Commission welcomes this and actively encourages the participation of local people to help guide the management of forests. Some people like to get their hands dirty and do physical work in the forest, (see volunteers) whereas others take more of an advisory role (see stakeholders). Forestry Commission and NHS Working Together This scheme is a joint venture between New Forest and Test Valley South Outreach team and the Forestry Commission to provide walks, training and activities for mental health patients. It is jointly funded by the New Forest National Park Authority and Hampshire County Council.
