Attractions The New Forest and its surrounding areas is home to many fascinating attractions including the Forestry Commission's Reptile Centre. The centre is open from 10.30am and 4.30pm between April and September, and is situated off of the A35 about 3km west of Lyndhurst. The Reptile Centre is a unique place to visit to see close-up all the snakes and lizards found in Britain. Specially created outdoor pens provide a natural home to the rare Sand lizard, Smooth snake and the poisonous adder. The centre actively encourages the conservation and re-introduction of these animals across the country. At Bolderwood there is a deer viewing platform and every day between April and September one of the New Forest Keepers feed the deer in the afternoon. During August Forestry Commission rangers give talks about these secretive animals. To find out more about deer viewing events click on the all events page.
Go Ape is also a popular forest attraction and can be found at Moors Valley Country Park. Go Ape is a network of rope bridges, trapezes and death slides through the tree tops and gives you a very different view of the forest! Visit the Go Ape website to find out more. For more information about what else is going on in and around the forest, get hold of a Forestry Commission 'What's On' guide, or visit the all events section of the website. Here you will discover more about all the ranger led events from gentle guided strolls to woodland craft days.
