Forest strategic plan
 

Giggle Alley - fern and waterNorth West England Forest District is responsible for the management of Forestry Commission woodlands (approx 17000 ha) in Cumbria (south of Carlisle), Lancashire, Greater Manchester,Merseyside and Cheshire. It works closely alongside the North West England Conservancy in delivery of the England Forestry Strategy in the North West. The Conservancy are responsible for policy and the direction of woodland development for public benefit, and for advising and supporting private landowners through various grant schemes and programmes.

The North West England Forest District Strategic Plan   (1.2mb adobe acrobat file) covers the period 2005 - 2009 which is the maximum before revision and it will be updated as required to reflect changes in higher level policies when they occur. The Plan provides guidance for all the activities carried out by the Forest District and is supported at a local level by individual Forest Management Plans.
