Forestry Commissioner England
Paul Hill-Tout Paul Hill-Tout is responsible for advising Westminster Ministers on forestry policy with respect to England, leading the implementation of the England Forestry Strategy and managing the work of the nine England Conservancies, 11 forest districts and the National Arboreta.
Major current tasks include: - deepening and widening connections between forestry policy and the interests of mainstream Whitehall departments; and
- aligning FC work to engage effectively with the evolving regional agenda and regional institutions for England.
Paul joined the Forestry Commission at Northampton in 1980 and has held eleven subsequent posts in Hampshire, Kielder, Dumfries and Edinburgh. His major professional interests are in planning at the corporate and woodland level. He is particularly interested in the challenges posted both for individual colleagues and FC as a whole in developing woodlands to serve the needs of society in a sustainable manner over the long-term.
