THE DODD AND BASSENTHWAITE LAKE FROM BECKSTONES PLANTATION. WHINLATTER FP. LAKES FD. The Thornthwaite Beat team covers North and East Cumbria based at Peil Wyke overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake.

The team is responsible for Whinlatter, Wythop, Dodd Wood, Setmurthy & Sawmill Wood, Parkwood Isel, Parkwood Bassenthwaite, Howgill & Messengermire, Matterdale, Parsons Park, Highstand, King Harry, Coombes Wood and Broomrigg. The team works closely with the Whinlatter Forest Park team in the management of Dodd Wood, Wythop and Whinlatter for recreation and as part of the Lake District Osprey Project.

The team is also involved in the Still Waters partnership lead by the Environment Agency and involving all the landowners in the Bassenthwaite Catchment. For more details of this work check out the link to our partnership pages.
