Eight-toothed Spruce Bark Beetle (Ips typographus)

Regarded as the most aggressive of the bark beetles found in continental Europe. This is a major threat to Britain's commercial spruce forests.

Asian Longhorn Beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis)

Also known as the starry sky beetle, this pest of a wide range of broadleaved and fruit trees is found in China, Japan, Korea, and more recently, the USA. It has been found associated with imports of a range of commodities imported from China in wooden packaging material (dunnage).

Added to our quarantine list in January 1999, and with new import controls launched on 1 February, many importers have been asking for information on the new rules. We have compiled a list of answers to 'frequently asked questions' available.
